The JP2 Foundation,
together with the Ministry for Gozo and the Notte Gozitana Committee has the
pleasure of announcing the third edition of the International Collective Art
Exhibition GENTES. Previously held
in 2009 and 2010, the exhibition has now become one of the main highlights of
the Gozitan artistic sector, having introduced works of art from Italian,
French, and Armenian artists to the local public.
This year, the organising
committee is introducing a concept completely innovative to our islands,
incorporating for the first time artists from Portugal, Palestine, the United
Kingdom, and Malta. This is the first time that an exhibition of this sort is
showcasing works of art from Europe and the Middle East under one roof. The aim
of this fresh, bold move is to promote cultural diversity, as well as
discussion between the different cultures as a means of achieving global peace.
Mankind – Gentes remains a constant theme in this
exhibition, with artists portraying their own views of the human life and
condition. This anthropomorphic study seems to be an inexhaustible source of
artistic inspiration and creative endeavour. Gentes thus becomes a manifestation of the human being, and how it
evolves according to the cultural perspective in which it is seen. This is what
makes the exhibition so distinctive.
The exhibition will
remain open till Sunday, 18th August at the Circolo Gozitano, Victoria. Further information can
be obtained from the venue itself, or through the various information points around Malta and Gozo.
Moreover, the general
public can access the official Facebook page of the exhibition: www.facebook.com/gentes.exhibition,
or send an email to jp2foundation@gmail.com.
